Intraoral Camera

The standard x-ray is essential in determining any dental problems you may have, but unfortunately, it may not reveal everything happening inside your mouth.  We are proud to utilize an intraoral camera in our office.

An intraoral camera can project an image of your tooth onto a monitor, so that you can see the problem in a magnified version and understand how we can correct the issue.  It can also identify problems that may not be detected by general means of examination, including cracks in your teeth or fractured teeth.  Similar to the design of a dental mirror, an intraoral camera allows you to make better decisions regarding your treatment as you can see the things we see.

For years, we have described diseases of the teeth and gums and drawn pictures to attempt to illustrate the problem and needed treatment.  The old adage "A picture is worth a thousand words" could not be truer when using the intraoral camera.

Laser Cavity Detection System

Did you know that many cavities found in your teeth could go undetected by current diagnostic techniques?

Dr. McDade offers a simple, fast and painless examination with DIAGNOdent, a harmless laser scanner that will help with the early detection of decay.  Even very small lesions are now detected at the earliest stage, enabling us to protect and preserve your teeth and smile.  The DIAGNOdent laser detection system is the most significant breakthrough in diagnosing dental decay since the dental x-ray.  With the widespread use of fluoride in both drinking water and toothpaste, it is much harder to detect tooth decay than ever before.  This is because the fluoride hardens the enamel so that most decay starts in microscopic defects in the hard surface and can readily spread into the softer surface beneath.  This destroys the tooth from the inside out.

How It Works

The DIAGNOdent device measures laser fluorescence within the tooth where the probe cannot reach.  It gives a digital and audio readout as to whether decay is present or not.  This device is designed as an adjunct to the traditional oral examination in the detection of decay.  Teeth that are suspicious for caries are ideal candidates for survey with this device.

Dentapure

Dental researchists and microbiologists have confirmed that dental unit water lines can be contaminated with unacceptable levels of bacteria.

For your protection and health, Dr. McDade uses Dentapure purification cartridges on each of our dental units.  This water purification technology is derived from the NASA space program and has been successfully used to purify water consumed on all space flights for over 20 years.

Dentapure reduces bacteria levels to safe potable water standards.  It has been thoroughly tested by independent dental evaluators including Clinical Research Associates (CRA).  It is used by dental and hygiene schools across the country.  It is approved by the FDA, EPA, CDC, ADA and CRA to meet and exceed acceptable water purification standards.

Dentapure purification allows small amounts of germicide, iodine, into the water.  The amount of iodine reaching you is less than the minimum daily dietary requirement published by the FDA.  There are no allergenic proteins and the elemental iodine poses no patient risk.

Our patients' health and protection is very important to us!  That is why we are purifying our dental unit water with the ultimate dental water purifier.

Lava CAD/CAM Technology

Dr. McDade offers Lava crowns and bridges as an alternative to traditional porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns and bridges.  He does this because their outstanding performance is supported by over 100 clinical studies and millions of cases.

Lava restorations are really porcelain-fused-to-zirconia restorations.  They are metal-free, avoiding metal that can show over time with traditional restorations.  They are CAD/CAM which means they are fabricated by means of Computer-Aided-Design and Computer-Aided-Manufacturing.  That means they are hi-tech.

Over time, metal restorations can leave a dark ridge where the gums recede.

With Lava zirconia, your restoration retains its original beauty for years.

Lava crowns and bridges have long been established as a leader in CAD/CAM- produced zirconia restorations.  Why?  Because Lava restorations provide precise excellent fit, proven superior strength and outstanding natural aesthetics.

Lava restorations provide a precision solution to our patients' restorative needs with a wide range of indications, such as:  single crowns, splinted crowns, traditional and cantilever bridges, custom implant abutments, as well as implant crowns and bridges.  Lava restorations combine brilliant science with dazzling results and computer technology.

Ask Dr. McDade about whether metal-free Lava crowns and bridges are right for you!
